Why Reefer Dispatching Is Different
Produce brokers are riskier. General freight brokers pay in 21–30 days with low dispute rates. Produce brokers operate under PACA (Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act) with disputes that can take months to resolve. Before loading a produce broker for the first time, you need their PACA license number, payment history, and dispute record — or you're taking on unpriced risk.
Cold chain documentation is your claim defense. If a produce consignee rejects the load, your defense is the temperature log from pickup, the signed BOL noting commodity condition, and the driver's pre-trip temperature record. Without these, any dispute leaves you exposed.
Does the AI check PACA license status automatically?
Not yet — automatic PACA license lookup is on our roadmap. Today, when a load is entered with a produce broker, the broker panel surfaces their credit score, days-to-pay history, and load-rejection pattern automatically, and flags high-risk brokers. Verify PACA license status yourself before accepting a produce load from a new broker.
Which reefer lanes does DispatchOS AI cover?
All 48-state reefer lanes. Key produce corridors tracked seasonally: California (Salinas, Oxnard) to Southeast and Northeast, Florida to Northeast for citrus, Texas to Midwest for dairy and meat. Pharmaceutical corridors are covered year-round.
Can I use it for frozen loads as well as fresh?
Yes. The system handles both fresh (above-freezing, typically 34–55°F) and frozen (0°F or below) reefer loads. Temperature set point is recorded per load, and the pre-trip checklist adapts to the commodity requirements.
